For decades, technicians have been responsible for monitoring cathodic protection rectifiers and ensuring adequate cathodic protection for pipelines, tanks, and other facilities by traveling to the individual sites to take readings and make adjustments. However, the EDMS enables the economic monitoring of these facilities via remote data acquisition techniques. In many cases, the installation of an EDMS can significantly reduce direct operating costs and provide nearly continuous, instead of periodic monitoring of these essential facilities.
