- Southern California Gas Company, 30-inch diameter Natural Gas Line 765 Internal Inspection Retrofit Project - Joe managed the preparation of the engineering drawings for a 30-inch diameter natural gas line retrofit project involving 10 sites for moderate to significant piping changes. These changes were required to prepare the line for first time internal inspection. Five of the sites involved the installation of permanent and temporary pig launchers, receivers, and other related equipment such as filter and separators. Some of the sites required traffic plans to be developed to support construction within busy City streets.
- Chevron Pipe Line Company, Pipeline Repairs, Bay Area Product System - Joe managed the field construction inspection and permitting agency interfaces for a major directional drilled pipeline crossing beneath the eastern portion of the San Francisco Bay. This project also included several onshore pipeline repairs within designated wetlands and other environmentally sensitive areas. Joe was responsible for overall pipeline inspection and coordination with affected agencies, which included: U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, U.S. Fish and Wildlife, California Department of Fish and Game, California State Fire Marshal, and several landowners.
- Huntington Beach Crude Oil Storage Tank Replacement Project - Joe managed the development of the engineering design drawing package to support the replacement of a crude oil storage tank. This included the design drawings for the following project components: interconnecting piping, area lighting, piping supports, light pole foundations, tank foundation, equipment foundations, and electrical and controls. Joe also provided construction support. Client contact - Mr. Robert Kurima, 661-654-7984, RKurima@chevron.com.
- Valero KLM Interconnection Project, Valero Benicia Refinery and Chevron Pipe Line Company - This project included the design of a 1.6 mile, 12-inch diameter crude oil pipeline lateral to connect the existing Chevron KLM pipeline to the Valero Benicia Refinery bulk storage facilities. Joe managed and supported development of the design drawing package for the following facilities: custody transfer metering, meter proving, pipe supports, equipment foundations, retaining walls, pile supported equipment foundations, area lighting, light pole foundations, site grading and drainage, storm water retention, storm drain, fencing, wick drain system to induce settlement in weak soils, access roadway, area paving, etc. Client contact - Mr. David Trenholm, currently with Oxy Petroleum, 832-638-5541, David_Trenholm@oxy.com and Mr. Greg Morgan, gpmo@chevron.com.
- Southern California Gas Company Rio Hondo Channel Crossing - The firm designed the Rio Hondo channel crossing for a 26 inch natural gas transmission pipeline (Line 2000). Joe managed and supported the development of the design drawings issued for construction to support the installation of a new pipeline crossing beneath the channel. Client contact - Mr. Gary Garcia, 562-806-4865, gagarcia2@SempraUtilities.com.
- Southern California Gas Company Line 765 Pipeline Integrity - is a 30-inch natural gas transmission pipeline traversing from Glendale to Long Beach in Los Angeles County. Joe managed and supported the development of the design and drawings for ten locations along the line requiring retrofit to accommodate passage of an internal inspection tool. The designs included: pipeline segment relocations, replacement of components that would block passage of a 30-inch internal inspection tool, piping modifications to accommodate the temporary installation of tool launching and receiving facilities, station upgrades (e.g., piping, pipe supports, equipment, equipment foundations, etc.) to accommodate permanent installation of tool launching and receiving facilities. Client Contact - Mr. Demar Gonzalez, 213-244-3508, wgonzalez@SempraUtilities.com.
